During ADEMA dental week James Markey, Head of Commerce & Product (via JPMentors) hosted a 4 hour workshop covering all the features with the new VIRTEASY Classroom.
We want to share with you all the topics that got covered on the day to give you a taster of what we do and perhaps even enable you to deliver your own workshops.
So let’s get started…
Haptics & VR
Haptics and VR changed how pilots train. Reducing the cost per session and reducing the risk to operator and passengers. It was a complete game changer.
At HRV, we’re specialists at haptics and virtual reality (it’s literally in our name) and we’re always asking: ‘can we do this for another industry?’
Dental training seems ripe for a shake-up. Students, normally, learn about the anatomy of teeth and everything else from books. They go on to practice on mannequins called phantom heads and then continue to practice on patients (who get the treatment for free, often).
Read that again. We practice on people.
We believe that haptics and VR can help future dentists be more prepared before they give a treatment to patients for the first time. Whether it’s free or not.
The formula is important. Haptics to feel. Virtual reality to see. That’s why the 3D patient and 3D scene is so important. It doesn’t need to be 100% realistic but it needs to be there.
We’ve had the Virteasy Dental Simulator professional designed to be ergonomic as possible with lots of other functionality. Like the motors which allow you to adjust the height. The tracking device to allow the use of a dental mirror. The best haptics device we could find.
Take an intra oral (STL) and CT (DICOM) scan
This is where Virteasy really comes into its own. We take scans of the participants from all the big brands and are able to create new exercises using Virteasy Editor.
We believe we’re the only haptic and VR dental simulator capable of all this.
We think it’s only a dream!
This is a quote from one of our recent sessions at Tashkent State Dental Institute. We’re very proud of the impact our software has on preparing students for clinical treatment. Bridging the gap between training and treatment is very important.
Real scans, virtual patient
Being able to do a preparation on your own teeth that are now imposed on a virtual patient is mind blowing. We love seeing people jump on the simulator and doing this for the first time.
Planning an implant
There aren’t many opportunities to plan an implant as an undergraduate student. With Virteasy you can get a taste of the action.
Using CT DICOM imaging from patients we can choose, plan and prepare an implant thanks to Virteasy Editor. A real game changer.
At ADEMA, our kind volunteer went about planning an implant whilst the rest of the room was shouting advice and encouragement.
They did a great job and it was fantastic to see how excited they were with their studies.
This is a really exciting area for us that’s currently in BETA. Being able to prepare a treatment virtually and then 3D print it ready for a REAL inspection.
If you want the full workshop presentation, feel free to contact us and we will happily provide it.
In the coming weeks we will validate the content and the copyright and make it freely available online for you.
