#ADEE2019 #adeeBerlin #DentalEd

ADEE this year was hosted in Berlin, Germany from 21st until 23rd August and, as always, was very well organised by the ADEE team and featured some great nights out thanks to Kavo Kerr and Dentsply Sirona.

What’s new?

Virteasy UniVRsity

  • Virteasy UniVRsity
    The new software release features:
    ++ Create a caries experience – Manage multiple STLs from a library and create realistic caries for new exercises
    ++ Student self assessment and reflection
    ++ Student / teacher communication
    ++ Advanced STL & DICOM patient scans integration
    ++ Simulator and teacher scoring – have both objective and subjective scoring

Virteasy VR Headset

  • Virteasy VR Headset
    An experience using the Oculus Rift S to take you fully inside the dentist’s room and experience full immersion with the virtual patient. We are currently integrating the haptics device so you will be able to sit down next to a virtual patient and even do the dental treatment on them. Being able to integrate this with CT (DICOM) and intra-oral (STL) scans from REAL PATIENTS will really help bridge the gap for students. If this R&D project is successful, a desktop simulator using basic hapics and VR could help reduce the cost for universities unable to purchase a high-fidelity simulator and open up haptic and VR simulation across the world so it’s a really exciting project for us.

Other Simulation News

Sim to Care Dente
A new haptic and VR simulator is being launched by a team in the Netherlands. Their simulator uses a real phantom head to blend in with existing teaching methods. The haptics works well and it’s a very novel concept so we are exciting to see how it develops in the following years.

Nissin Simodont Dental Trainer
This year the Simodont team has been concentrating on usability updates for their customers.
The colour has now fully changed over to blue following the transition from Moog to Nissin.
